Coddington's red card proves costly for Guiseley

The visitors had the first chance when a Jobi McAnuff cross found Sam Ling who forced Coddington into a fine save to his right.

Orient were on top with chances when Macauley Bonne was found in the area but on the angle, his shot hit the side netting.

Guiseley had a chance when Alex Purver saw an effort from 25 yards out sting the palms of Orient goalkeeper Dean Brill.

The big incident of the game occurred just moments into the second half when a ball over the top saw Bonne through on goal. Coddington came out of his goal and was adjudged to have brought the player down as the last man, so he was given a straight red card.

From the resulting free-kick, McAnuff showed his quality with a fine shot that nestled into the top corner of the net.

Down to 10 men and a goal behind as well meant it was always going to be a tough remainder of the match. And with Ben Frempah going off as well, Guiseley had to make do with a makeshift back four but Leyton Orient weren’t able to add to their score, missing a number of chances.

McAnuff then broke away and finished clincally with a fine finish and it looked like game over.

But moments later Joe Widdowson passed back to Orient keeper Dean Brill and the ball went over his foot and into the goal.

That gave Guiseley some hope and they pushed forward but couldn’t get another goal.

With Orient exploiting the space David Mooney netted with a tap-in to seal the victory for the Londoners.

After the defeat Guiseley’s interim manager Sean St Ledger said: “It is obviously very disappointing to lose and have a man sent off again, we have faced a good side and just couldn’t get the result.

“We are now in a position where draws simply aren’t good enough and we are going in to win games. It just didn’t happen for us.”

Harrogate Town lost further ground on National North leaders Salford City following their 0-0 draw at Brackley.

Town almost edged ahead in the 37th minute when Joe Leesley’s curling effort was dropped by Danny Lewis, but the Brackley stopper recovered in time to keep out Jake Wright’s follow up.

Lee Ndlovu almost found the winning touch for the hosts with five minutes to play, but the ball somehow squirmed wide of the post as the home number nine got on the end of a low cross at the back post.

Salford City edged to a 2-1 victory over Curzon Ashton to move six points clear of Town.

An injury-time goal from Stockport County condemned Bradford Park Avenue to a 3-2 home defeat.

Stockport took the lead on seven minutes through Jason Oswell and the same player doubled the advantage just before the hour mark.

Javan Vidal then steered the ball into the far corner of the net to reduce the arrears for the hosts before Frank Mulhern fired the ball home to level the scores with nine minutes left.

But James Ball was in the right place at the right time to volley the winning goal for County with seconds left.
