Wharfedale climbed out of the relegation zone with a 24-22 comeback win over Tynedale in National Two North.

Tries from Rhys Lovegrove and Marty Houghton for the visitors left Wharfedale trailing 17-12 at half-time, but they hit back with skipper Phil Woodhead darting over for two tries to seal the win.

Wharfedale overtook Blaydon and moved up to 13th, but their fate won’t be known until after their last match next weekend against Macclesfield.

Elsewhere, Otley were beaten 24-10 at home by Luctonians.

In the North Premier League, Harrogate won 45-22 at home to Billingham to continue their good form. Centre Keane Naylor scored a hat-trick of tries, while second-row Sam Brady claimed two and others came from wingers Harry Jukes and Harry Barnard.

Elsewhere Sandal were beaten 66-20 by league champions Preston Grasshoppers.

West Leeds moved up to third in North One East with a 32-12 win against Bridlington. Winger Danny Booth scored twice, while other tries came from winger Mark Calderwood and back row Dec Penny. Huddersfield YMCA secured their survival with a 34-17 win against West Hartlepool, while Cleckheaton were 70-59 winners over Penrith.

Selby look set to avoid relegation from Yorkshire One after winning 20-12 over Moortown to finish third bottom in a league which usually sees two teams go down.
