The ex-Leeds Rhinos winger was expected to miss the rest of the season after suffering a recurrence of a shoulder injury in Trinity’s Ladbrokes Challenge Cup semi-final defeat by Warrington Wolves at the end of July.

He sat out last Friday’s 60-12 loss at Wigan Warriors in the opening round of the First Utility Super-8s, but coach Chris Chester said he will make his comeback in a stronger Wildcats line-up at home to Warrington on Sunday.

“We have got another big game this week,” said Chester, who described Wakefield’s first-half performance at Wigan as “dishonest”.

“Hopefully we will have some bodies back.

“Ben is going to be okay, he will get surgery at the end of the year.

“It is one of those that’s going to be manageable.”

Chester added: “We are hopeful on Scott Anderson, but I have been saying that for the last three weeks.

“We will see how he goes through the week. Bill Tupou, with his hamstring, is looking okay. At a push he could maybe have played on Friday, but with a hamstring you’ve got to be extremely careful.

“Jon Molloy should be okay as well, so there’s four bodies – definitely three – who will be back this week.”

Chester was pleased with teenagers Judah Mazive, Frazer Morris and Jordan Crowther against Wigan and hinted he could leave some senior players out on Sunday.

“There’s going to be a few tough decisions and probably some people who aren’t happy, but so be it,” he said.

“That’s my job, the team needs freshening up and we will do that.”
