Wakefield Wildcats: Finn is looking for more against Tigers

Finn made his first competitive appearance for Wakefield since 2004 in last Sunday’s 24-16 home loss to Widnes Vikings.

He was encouraged by the way Wildcats performed, but insisted they need to turn that into wins sooner rather than later.

“It was the first game last week and we were disappointed with the result, but there were signs of progress we think from last year,” said Finn, who joined Wakefield in the off-season from this Sunday’s hosts Castleford Tigers.

“But we can’t keep saying that, we have got to start turning it into results.

“The sooner we do that and get the confidence out of results, the better.”

Finn’s half-back combination with Jacob Miller will be crucial for Wildcats this year and he believes the play-making duo are beginning to gel.

“We get on pretty well,” Finn said. “We try and work as hard as we can through the week.

“Things like that take time, that’s no secret, but games help to accelerate that sort of thing and hopefully we can keep developing it.”

Finn’s Super League career began with Halifax in 2002 and he played two games for Wakefield before a long spell with Featherstone Rovers.

He moved back to Wakefield last autumn after two seasons at Castleford and said he is looking forward to crossing swords with his old teammates.

“I am expecting the Cas team that’s been there for the past two years, that works very hard for each other and has a lot of good players and tricky players to deal with,” he said.

“If you let them get on to the front foot they are difficult to stop.”
