Australian half-back Tim Smith has returned to Wakefield Trinity Wildcats, just 10 months after being sold to Salford Red Devils.

Wildcats have re-signed Smith, 29, on loan for the remainder of the season and he could feature at home to London Broncos on Friday.

Smith made 48 Super League appearances for Wildcats in 2012 and 2013.

He played an integral part in Trinity’s run to the play-offs at the end of 2012, contributing 34 try assists as the Wildcats surged into the top eight with seven successive victories and he was named Wildcats Man of Steel and Members Player of the Year at the end of that campaign.

The former Wigan and Parramatta man has featured 12 times for Salford in 2014, crossing for two tries and will provide new head coach James Webster with another creative option ahead of his first game in charge
