Wakefield Trinity Wildcats: Trinity agree dual reg' deal with Rams

Trinity’s fringe players will be available to play for Rams in the Kingstone Press Championship next year.

Wakefield coach Chris Chester described the arrangement as a “win-win for both clubs”.

He said: “It is a good opportunity for my fringe players to be playing every week.

“This season it has been very hard to get players playing consistent football week-in, week-out without them having to travel to somewhere like London Skolars or Oxford or Whitehaven to find a club.

“Dewsbury’s on our doorstep and we are going to get the use of some of their facilities as well. It is a step in the right direction. I am more than happy with the arrangement.”

Wakefield will play a pre-season game against Rams next year, with the Championship club keeping the proceeds.

Dewsbury chairman Mark Sawyer said: “The decision to enter into a playing partnership with Wakefield Wildcats has been taken after careful consideration, with the conclusion being that it is in the best interests of the club.

Rams have also entered an agreement with League One club Hemel Stags, who will train at their Tetley’s Stadium base.
