Wakefield Trinity: '˜Special talent' puts pressure on seasoned three-quarters

The former Salford man scored a spectacular try on his Trinity debut in last week’s 16-12 win at St Helens and Chester enthused: “I thought he carried the ball really well.

“He has got a bit to learn off the ball with his decision-making, but we will get there with him. He is a special talent, he has got pace to burn and it was a fantastic finish for his try. It puts some pressure on people like Ben Jones-Bishop and the other wingers at the club, which is good. We have got genuine competition, which we haven’t had over the last few years.”

Chester has also hailed half-backs Jacob Miller and Sam Williams.

“They are still getting to know each other,” Chester said.

“They only had one-and-a-half/two games in pre-season together and we are only three games in.

“They will get better as the grounds get firmer.

“There were a couple of really good performances from those two guys.

“I had a bit of a crack at them about the game-management the week before against Huddersfield, it needed to be a bit better and I thought it was very good.”

Chester expects Anthony England, who was a late withdrawal from the side to face Saints after suffering a lower back problem in the warm-up, to be available for Sunday’s visit of Salford.

Chester is also confident captain Danny Kirmond will feature, despite suffering a cut leg and head injury last Friday.

Chris Annakin, Keegan Hirst and Jordan Crowther had been due to play on dual-registration for Dewsbury Rams, but their game at Oldham two days ago was postponed.
