WAKEFIELD TRINITY captain Jacob Miller reckons his own game and half-back combination with Danny Brough can go up a gear this season.

Trinity kick off their Betfred Super League campaign away to Hull KR tomorrow. Miller is confident of being available after an ankle injury, and his partnership with Brough will be crucial to Trinity’s hopes of making a winning start.

Brough joined Wakefield ahead of the 2019 season and Miller insisted: “We can still be better, which is the exciting part. We both missed a similar period of the season last year which didn’t help our combination. We are looking forward to where we can take the team this year.”

This is Miller’s second season as skipper and he added: “I want to take my leadership role to the next level. I was given the captaincy last year and I am still new to the job. I just want to learn on that.”

Trinity beat Rovers in Brough’s testimonial game earlier this month, but Miller expects tomorrow’s game to go down to the wire.

“It is always a tough test going to Hull KR,” he warned. “They have quite a young, fresh team who will be looking to start their campaign in the same way we will be.

“It is going to be a tough test for ourselves, but we will be looking to get our season off to a good start.”
