The hosts have won just once all season in League 1 and that was never likely to change yesterday as soon as the South Leeds side earned a 24-0 half-time advantage.

Centre Mufaro Mvududu scored twice inside the opening 14 minutes to get Hunslet off to a flying start and leave the Scorpions destined for a ninth successive loss.

Darren Williams added another try just before the half-hour mark and then winger Danny Thomas finished off a fourth shortly before the interval.

Simon Brown converted all of the efforts and Matt Bramald’s side were in complete command of a one-sided encounter.

However, South Wales did threaten a comeback at the start of the second period with a quickfire spell of three tries in just eight minutes.

Jordan Sheridan got them rolling in the 43rd minute, Christiaan Roets crossed on 47 and Dai Evans again soon after to give the Welsh outfit a glimmer of hope.

But Paul Emanuelli could convert only the last of the three, though, so they still trailed 24-14.

That gave Hunslet breathing space and they finished the stronger with further tries from replacement hooker George Flanagan and prop Lewis Reed, Brown slotting both goals.

Ian Newsbury got a consolation for the hosts in the 79th minute, Roets adding his second successful conversion of the game.
