Sharp, 29, has agreed a one-year deal with the club that finished fourth and are currently playing in the Qualifiers facing Super League opposition.

He also has an option of a further year on the contract.

The former Hull FC flier is Halifax coach Richard Marshall’s first signing ahead of next season.

And he said: “We’re really excited to get Will on board for 2016. He’s a player who I’ve admired for a number of years and in my eyes is Super League quality.

“He’s had a really good year at Featherstone.

“And when we were alerted to his availability, we didn’t hold back.”

Sharp, who started out his career with Harlequins, leaves Rovers after scoring 55 tries in just 74 appearances since joining the club from Hull FC in 2013.

Rovers were sad to see the player, who has scored 12 tries in 27 games this season, depart Post Office Road.

Featherstone chairman Mark Campbell said: “He’s a very committed player who will give his all week in week out. He plays the game with a smile on his face and is a great bloke to have around the dressing room.

“We’d like to wish Will all the best at Halifax, and thank him for his services to Featherstone Rovers.”
