Morrison demands improvement in must-win start to campaign

BOSS GLENN Morrison admits Dewsbury Rams can't afford to slip up against visitors Workington Town tomorrow (3pm).

Rams got their Kingstone Press Championship campaign off to a winning start at Swinton Lions six days ago and Morrison has identified their opening four games as crucial.

“We are playing the two promoted teams and the other two are Cumbrian sides who are going to want to be in the same position as us, fighting for the top-six at the end of the year,” Morrison said.

“If we want to achieve our goals at the end we have got to win these games. They are must-win and they will be saying the same thing, so we are expecting another tough one.”

Rams had to dig deep for last week’s 26-24 victory and Morrison admitted: “We will need to improve, definitely.

“It is not major, just hanging on to the ball and playing in the right areas.

“Because we didn’t play at their end.

“We played-the-ball a dozen times in their half and you’re not going to win too many games doing that.

“We managed to find a way to get the win, but we have to be better this week.”

Meanwhile, Hunslet Hawks visit League One rivals Keighley Cougars for a trial game tomorrow (3pm).

Half-back Simon Brown, hooker George Flanagan and full-back Jimmy Watson all come back into the team.
