All but 12 of the stylish centre’s 299 games so far have been with his hometown Huddersfield, the rest coming in England colours.

Cudjoe has come back from a series of troublesome knee injuries to re-establish himself as one of Super League’s most exciting three-quarters this term.

The 32-year-old faces Warrington Wolves at St Helens tonight and Giants interim head coach Luke Robinson said: “He’s had a really tough run over the last two years.

“No one has been as frustrated as him.

“But Leroy is the epitome of what we want to create at Huddersfield Giants; we want players in that genuinely care about the club and their team-mates.

“He does that. The All Blacks talk about leaving the jersey in a better position than when they gained it and Leroy is the same here; he is testament to that.

“He is the bloke that always comes to every scholarship game, always comes to every Academy game, he knows every young lad within Huddersfield and coaches Moldgreen Under -14s.

“He really does invest into the club and he is someone who I really respect and appreciated playing with and the boys do.

“We owe Leroy and we need to make sure we put a really good performance in, not just for ourselves but for him this week, especially with this milestone.”

Cudjoe is expected to sign a new deal for 2021 and Robinson continued: “As players gets older they can get a little bit bitter.

“I’ve seen it before where older players start getting a little worried about the next generation coming through, particularly in their position that are snap;ping at their heels.

“But Leroy’s not like that. He’s really good and is always wanting to improve everyone around him.”

Huddersfield, of course, were supposed to be hosting Castleford Tigers tonight until their opponents announced on Wednesday they had received 12 Covid positive tests, Warrington Wolves whose game with Salford Red Devils was forfeited - coming in instead.

That number rose to 13 yesterday - all players - and Robinson, looking to end his side’s three-game losing run, revealed Huddersfield had also since seen a player test positive.

But he added: “It’s from one of the young lads, a non-playing squad member.

“It’s an isolated case so track and trace hasn’t flagged up any issues with any other player.

“We’re lucky because he’s had very little contact with anyone which is good news for us.”
