BOTH COACHES will make changes for today’s derby at Headingley.
Leeds Rhinos will face Wakefield Trinity Wildcats without second-row Carl Ablett from the team which lost 18-14 at Castleford Tigers’ Mend-a-Hose Jungle four days ago.
That was only his second match back following an ankle injury.
And Rhinos’ spokesman Phil Daly said after lengthy game time in those fixtures he will not be risked as Rhinos’ continue to manage his return to fitness.
He is likely to come back into contention, however, for Friday’s visit of Hull KR, beaten in a dramatic fightback by Hull before the Easter Monday round of fixtures.
There is still no place for Danny McGuire, who has been sidelined since the opening game of the season due to knee and calf problems.
Brett Delaney, who withdrew after Thursday’s warm-up because of a hamstring injury, also misses out, along with Ryan Hall, Stevie Ward and Ashton Golding.
Mitch Achurch, who played on dual-registration for Featherstone Rovers on Good Friday, has been named in Rhinos’ initial 19-man squad. Mitch Garbutt and Brad Singleton are also back in contention after being dropped for the last two games.
Anthony England, Stuart Howarth and Ashley Gibson all picked up knocks during Wakefield Wildcats’ win over Huddersfield on Friday and miss out today.
Jason Walton and Tinirau Arona are available after suspension, Ben Jones-Bishop could return from injury and Craig Hall and Andy Yates are also vying for a call-up.
