ACADEMY CENTRE Harry Newman is in contention to make his Emerald Headingley debut against St Helens tomorrow.

The 18-year-old was the first player born this century to feature in Betfred Super League when he started on the left-wing in a defeat at Wigan Warriors last July. He also played as a winger in Leeds’ loss at Widnes Vikings four months ago and has since impressed on dual-registration for Featherstone Rovers (nine tries in eight appearances) and with Rhinos’ under-19s (nine tries in six games).

Scrum-half Jordan Lilley is in Rhinos’ 19-man squad, but suffered an ankle injury against Huddersfield Giants last week. If either he or stand-off Joel Moon – who has missed the last three games due to an Achilles problem, but is also included in the initial squad – are ruled out, Liam Sutcliffe could switch into the halves with Newman coming in at centre.

Rhinos are definitely without scrum-half Richie Myler (concussion), forward Brett Delaney (hamstring) and prop Mikolaj Oledzki (head/neck) because of injuries sustained seven days ago. Centres Kallum Watkins (knee) and Jimmy Keinhorst (hamstring), props Brad Singleton (hand) and Nathaniel Peteru (biceps), and second-rowers Carl Ablett (calf) and Jamie Jones-Buchanan (knee) remain on the list.

Front-rower Anthony Mullally, who has missed three of the last four games because of two separate suspensions for raising a knee in a tackle, is back in contention.

Hooker Brad Dwyer and prop Jack Ormondroyd are also included in the initial squad after playing on dual-reg’ for Featherstone in a win at Dewsbury Rams last Sunday.

Saints are without former Leeds prop Kyle Amor; Jack Ashworth has been drafted in and Jonny Lomax and Jon Wilkin could also feature.

Leeds Rhinos: from Golding, Briscoe, Sutcliffe, Hall, Moon, Cuthbertson, Parcell, Ward, Dwyer, Mullally, Garbutt, Ferres, Handley, Ormondroyd, Walker, Lilley, Newman, C Smith, Walters.
