Mikolaj Oledzki flies off to Australia with England Academy today having signed a new five-year contract with Leeds Rhinos.
The Polish-born prop, 17, is in his first year with the Rhinos Academy but has quickly impressed with his form in the Under-19s.
Oledzki – who represented Poland as a diver – only started playing rugby league four years ago when he persuaded his mum to allow him to join East Leeds and then he moved to Hunslet Warriors.
Oledzki said: “It’s incredible to have agreed a new contract like this. Things have moved very quickly this year especially by training and playing with the Under-19s and being around the first-team players as well. I’m overwhelmed at what I’ve achieved so far and hopefully I can keep building on that.”
“It’s a great boost as we head down to Australia with the England Academy.”
Rhinos head of youth development Simon Bell said: “Mikolaj has impressed everyone this season with his work ethic and determination to improve in every training session and game. He thoroughly deserves his spot in the England Academy squad and new contract with the club.”
