LEEDS RHINOS’ Carl Ablett is looking forward to being able to “reflect” on so many memories after being granted a testimonial by the RFL for “outstanding service” to the sport.
The second-row debuted for his hometown club in 2004, has made more than 250 appearances with Leeds and winning the Challenge Cup last month represented his 14th major final for the Rhinos.
Ablett, 29, said: “I’d like to thank the RFL and the Leeds Rhinos board for granting me this testimonial.
“As a Leeds lad it has been a dream come true to play for the Rhinos for my entire career so far.
“There have been some fantastic memories and the honour of playing alongside some brilliant players.
“I am sure the testimonial year and the events throughout it will give me a chance to reflect on those memories and meet a lot of people to say thank you for their help over the past twelve years.”
The first event will take place next week with a sold-out corporate touch and pass tournament on the Headingley Carnegie pitch.
The now traditional Testimonial ‘naked’ calendar launch will take place at the Arc (North Lane, Headingley) on Tuesday, September 29 at 7pm, tickets priced £5 per person and including a drink on arrival.
The calendar will retail officially at £10 and all proceeds will go to the Carl Ablett Testimonial Fund.
