INJURY PROBLEMS among Leeds Rhinos’ forwards are beginning to ease. Prop Mitch Garbutt, who has missed Rhinos’ last three games due to paternity leave and injury, has been named in the initial 19 for tonight’s visit of Warrington Wolves, though coach Brian McDermott says he will not play.
Garbutt, however, is likely to feature away to Widnes Vikings on Monday. Second-rower Carl Ablett, who has been sidelined since the defeat at Warrington on April 7 because of a knee problem, is hoping to return against Leigh Centurions next Friday, along with prop Keith Galloway.
He has undergone minor knee surgery and will miss a second successive game tonight. If all three feature at Widnes and Rhinos pick up no new injuries tonight or in four days’ time that would leave only centre Jimmy Keinhorst (hand) on the casualty list. Tonight’s 19 includes the 17 beaten by Castleford Tigers last Sunday, plus Garbutt and Jordan Baldwinson.
Warrington are without Ben Westwood (broken hand). Ashton Sims is available after a one-match ban and Declan Patton and Andre Savelio are also in contention for a return to the 17.
