LEEDS RHINOS will face Hull in successive matches after being drawn away to the East Yorkshire side in the quarter-finals of the Ladbrokes Challenge Cup.
Rhinos are at home to Hull in First Utility Super League on Sunday, June 21 and will travel to KC Stadium for the Cup tie the following weekend, though the exact date has yet to be confirmed.
It will be the third time in six seasons Leeds have travelled to Hull in the Challenge Cup the week after a Super League meeting at Headingley.
In 2010 Leeds won a fourth round tie at KC Stadium 48-24 the week after a 46-30 home Super League victory.
The following year Leeds beat the Black and Whites 20-0 in a home Super League game before winning 38-22 in a Cup quarter-final at Hull in their next match.
Holders Leeds are West Yorkshire’s sole Challenge Cup survivors after Castleford Tigers, Wakefield Wildcats, Batley Bulldogs, Featherstone Rovers and Dewsbury Rams all bowed out, along with Rhinos’ victims Huddersfield Giants.
Half-back Danny McGuire, whose try in the 48-16 drubbing of Giants took him to 1,001 points for Leeds, described it as a “tough draw”.
He said: “They have started to find a bit of form now.
“In the last-eight all you are hoping for is home advantage, you are not bothered about who you get because they are all tough.”
McGuire added: “It is a tricky one, but we will look forward to it and it will be interesting playing them two weeks on the bounce.”
The full quarter-final draw is: Hull KR v Catalans Dragons, Warrington Wolves v Leigh Centurions, Hull v Leeds Rhinos, St Helens v Widnes Vikings.
Ties to be played June 25-28.
