HIGHLY-RATED young forwards Jordan Baldwinson and Mason Tonks will return to Leeds Rhinos after cutting short their stay in New Zealand.

The Rhinos academy products joined New Zealand Warriors under-20s in the off-season and were hoping to progress through the ranks into the elite NRL competition.

But the move has not worked out and the pair are set to head back to England after being released by Warriors.

They will spend the rest of this season on loan at Bradford Bulls and have re-signed for Rhinos’ 2015 campaign.

Baldwinson, who played for Hunslet Warriors before joining Leeds, made two Super League appearances last season.

Fellow 19-year-old Tonks, who is from Castleford, was 18th man on one occasion, but did not break into the senior side.

Baldwinson played five times for Warriors’ second string in the National Youth Cup and was a try scorers in a 54-0 win over Canberra Raiders last weekend.

Tonks made two appearances at the same level.
