ACADEMY BOSS Rob Burrow is expecting Leeds Rhinos’ new generation of youngsters to step up again when they visit Keighley Cougars tomorrow (3pm).

A young team thrashed League One Coventry Bears 70-14 two weeks ago and were pipped 18-16 at Betfred Championship outfit Featherstone Rovers last week.

Cougars, of League One, will field their strongest-available lineup and Burrow said: “It is classed as a first team game and it is a great chance for the fringe players to get a run out along with the academy lads.

“There’s a lot of talented young players and it’s a a great opportunity for them to get stuck in and play against men.

“I am expecting a tougher game than against Coventry. The score is kind of irrelevant, but it was great to see the young lads come back against a quality team like Featherstone [to lead 16-14 after being 14-0 down].

“This is another game further on. I anticipate them being good against Keighley and they will need to be.”

Rhinos will be without Mikolaj Oledzki and Alex Sutcliffe (both shoulder) and Jordan Lilley (foot).

First team squad members set to feature tomorrow are Harry Newman, Jimmy Keinhorst, Ash Handley, Josh Jordan-Roberts, Josh Walters and Cameron Smith.

Brad Martin, Will Scrimshaw and Sam Moorhouse will play their first game since graduating to the academy from Leeds’ under-19s. The game is a testimonial for Cougars player Brendon Rawlins. Admission is £10 for adults, £5 concessions and juniors aged 12-16, free for juniors aged 11 and under.

Rhinos: Whitton, Newman, Keinhorst, Handley, Whylie, Spence, Scrimshaw, Dupree, Johnson, Jordan-Roberts, Walters, Martin, Smith. Subs Hartley, Moorhouse, McConnell, Holroyd, Darley, Markland. s
