Leeds Rhinos: '˜Rusty' Beau Falloon ready to go when big kick-off comes

The former Gold Coast Titans hooker is one of five signings brought in to replace the departed quartet of Kevin Sinfield, Kylie Leuluai, Paul Aiton and Jamie Peacock.

“It is a good balance,” Falloon said of Rhinos’ 26-strong senior group, which includes fellow recruits Keith Galloway, Brett Ferres, Anthony Mullally and Jordan Baldwinson.

“The old fellas are great players and have achieved so much in the game and there’s some really good young kids coming through.

“It’s a good coaching team too. I am really enjoying my time under Mac [boss Brian McDermott].

“He is a great coach and it’s good to play under someone who has been so successful over the years.”

Falloon admitted he is still adjusting to the English game, but is confident he will be ready when he recovers from a broken toe suffered in training.

“I should be all right,” Falloon said. “I am still a little bit rusty, but I had a good hit out against Bradford [in Carl Ablett’s testimonial game] and I can’t wait for the season to start.

“Pre-season has been good. We had a good week in Jacksonville, which I really enjoyed.

“I got to know the boys a lot better and how we like to play, then it was a good to get a tough game against Bradford, they gave us a good contest.

“They really had a good go and put us to the test. Bradford were offloading quite a lot and we were on the back foot for a lot of that game, but we did well to hang in there and come back.”

Fallon is aware tonight’s Super League round one visitors Warrington Wolves will be a tougher proposition than Championship outfit Bradford.

“They’ve got a great side, but we have just got to worry about ourselves,” he added.

“We’ve had a good couple of weeks’ training [since the Bulls game] and we’ll be ready for the start of the year.”

Rhinos’ opening First Utility Super League fixtures, against Warrington and at Widnes Vikings, will be preparation for the World Club Challenge showdown with Australian champions North Queensland Cowboys on Sunday, February 21.

“We haven’t really talked about that too much,” Falloon insisted of the world title bout.

“It will be a great game and a great thing to be involved in, but we have got two games before that and we have got to focus on them.”
