With Headingley being rebuilt, Elland Road hosted Rhinos’ first home game of the season, against Hull KR.

Jimmy Keinhorst, now a Rovers player, scored a hat-trick, Adam Cuthbertson also touched down and Richie Myler booted two goals in a 20-11 win in front of 16,149.

Leeds’ Wembley hopes were shattered by a 32-12 defeat to St Helens, the most points the Loiners had conceded at home in the Challenge Cup.

Carl Gibson and Steve Molloy were Leeds’ try scorers in the second round tie and Bobbie Goulding kicked a goal and two one-pointers.

Forty years ago today, Kevin Dick scored a try and two goals in a 10-5 home win over Workington Town.

In front of 4,870 fans, John Atkinson ran in Leeds’ other touchdown.

1969

Leeds recorded their 17th successive league win, beating Halifax 29-4 at Headingley.

Mick Shoebottom touched down twice and Leeds’ other tries were scored by man of the match Barry Seabourne, Ken Eyre, Syd Hynes, Mick Lamb and Alan Smith.

Bev Risman kicked four goals and the crowd was 6,149.

1930

Leeds swept to a 27-5 home win over Featherstone Rovers in a Challenge Cup first round tie.

Arthur Evans scored two tries, AC Lloyd, Dan Pascoe and DR Jenkins got the others and Joe Thompson booted six goals.
