The substitute was taken off the field on a stretcher after suffering a back injury during the dramatic 27-26 golden point win over Huddersfield Giants two days ago.

Full-back Richie Myler (head) and centre Konrad Hurrell (shoulder) are both expected to be available as table-topping Rhinos look for a sixth straight win.

Boss Richard Agar said: “He [Donaldson] is struggling a little bit so we will get him in for a scan and checks.

“He was struggling [on Sunday] to move and get about.

“It is a tough one and I would say at this stage it probably puts him in doubt for this week, but it is still very early days.”

Myler needed a head injury assessment in the first half, but was able to return and Agar confirmed: “He passed his head test.

“He caught a couple, accidental - [Aidan] Sezar caught him with his knee for the first one, totally by accident.”

Hurrell scored Leeds’ first and last tries, but was holding a shoulder after his second touchdown which gave kicker Rhyse Martin a chance to send the game into extra-time.

“He is fine, just a bit sore,” Agar revealed. “He had an impact on the game.

“He’ll be better with a couple of games under his belt, it’s fair to say, but he’s still a player who, when we need that big play, is a go-to man for us and a guy that’s really hard to handle.”

Agar said front-rower Ava Seumanufagai wasn’t injured, despite getting only limited game time.

“He is all right,” Agar added. “He played the first 22 minutes, but because we had that head knock and we’d done a lot of defending, we decided to leave Donno [Donaldson] on.

“He did a fair bit of time as a middle for us and later on we were chasing the game and we left Cuthbo [Adam Cuthbertson] and Cam Smith on there as long as we could, to give us a bit more pass play and offload as we were chasing it.

“We were happy with the way Ava went in his opening spell, it was just the way the interchanges fell and the way the game was going, why we couldn’t get him back on.”
