Leeds Rhinos: Injured Ferres to have a scan on foot

LEEDS RHINOS' England forward Brett Ferres will undergo scans tomorrow on a foot injury suffered in the 23-22 loss to Widnes Vikings.

Ferres, winger Luke Briscoe and captain Danny McGuire were all in protective boots following Sunday’s defeat, which ended Rhinos’ hopes of a top-eight finish in First Utility Super League.

“I have got scans on Wednesday,” Ferres said. “I will have to see how that goes.It is frustrating getting injured, especially at this time of year.

“It is never nice, but hopefully I will get some good news.”

Fellow pack man Brad Singleton is also in danger of missing Friday’s trip to leaders Hull, after being charged with making a grade A high tackle against Widnes.

Singleton, who does not have the option of an early guilty plea, will face the RFL disciplinary committee today and could be banned for a maximum of one game.

Wakefield Trinity Wildcats’ Anthony England could be suspended for up to two matches after being charged with a grade B shoulder charge in Sunday’s home defeat by St Helens. Trinity winger Tom Johnstone suffered a leg injury in the same game, but X-rays have revealed no broken bones.

The RFL’s match review panel has cautioned Castleford hooker Paul McShane for kicking out in the defeat at Salford.
