Jordan Lilley could be Rhinos’ next big thing. He got plenty of game time and even playing out of position at hooker, the 19-year-old looked at home in a tough encounter.

It will take time for Rhinos to adjust to their new era. Of course Kevin Sinfield, Jamie Peacock and Kylie Leuluai were missed, but that was always going to be the case.

Rhinos aren’t far off. They created plenty of opportunities and on another day would have had a winning lead by half-time.

Fans will turn out on a Thursday night. It was the opening day of the season so anticipation was keen, but even so a 16,168 gate was a good turnout for a midweek fixture.

New referees boss Steve Ganson has got a big job on his hands. Enough said.
