Leeds Rhinos: Five things we learned from the defeat at Salford

It was their ninth loss in 11 competitive games this year and they remain second from bottom in First Utility Super League.

Here’s five talking points from the game.

1: Leeds’ main problem is poor attack. They had three more penalties than the opposition and forced five goal line drop outs, but managed only two tries late in the game.

2: It was an improved defensive effort, but Rhinos conceded two soft touchdowns. The opposition shouldn’t be scoring so easily from acting-half.

3: Youngster Liam Sutcliffe started at centre, with experienced Carl Ablett in the back-row. A positional swap would be worthy trying.

4: Veteran Jamie Jones-Buchanan isn’t finished yet. He played the full 80 minutes and didn’t deserve to be on the losing team.

5: Other results made it another terrible weekend for Leeds. They are now six points outside the leading eight, with just 13 games left before the competition splits.
