The French club arrive at Headingley as one of the competition’s form teams, winning nine of their last 11 games.

Bottom-placed Leeds would ‘kill’ for form like that yet Catalans hooker Eloi Pelissier admitted: “We haven’t played our best rugby over the last few games. We are winning but we need to find our best form.

“I hope at Leeds we can find the same Catalans Dragons that we were four or five games ago.

“We have a lot of injuries but this year we are stronger mentally and we have a stronger squad. We have seen already that the players who come in when we have injuries have been able to do the job that is expected. That is a big difference this year for us as a team.”

Catalans have emerged as serious contenders for a maiden Grand Final glory and Pelissier admits he is loving their current style – and his own involvement.

“Personally, this year I am enjoying myself on the field because I am playing a lot,” said the France international.

“Every game I learn something new and there is always something I can improve on week in week out.”

He refuses to write Leeds off despite aiming to inflict a seventh successive loss on them.

“When you play Leeds at Leeds, every time it’s special,” he added. “Headingley is a fantastic stadium with fantastic fans and, just because Leeds are in last place doesn’t mean it isn’t a special game. They still have quality players.”
