Leeds Rhinos: Cowboys are determined not to get caught cold by Rhinos

AUSTRALIAN CHAMPIONS North Queensland Cowboys will be favourites to win Sunday's Dacia World Club Challenge, but co-captain Matt Scott insists they are taking nothing for granted.

Cowboys will be near to full strength against an injury-ravaged and out-of-form Leeds, but Scott warned: “It is going to be tough; they have experience on their side.

“We have a relatively young team and a lot of guys who have not played over here before so it will be a tough match. They will be looking forward to improving on last week’s game and this will bring the best out of them.”

The Cowboys’ front-rower is also wary of Rhinos’ former NRL props.

He added: “I have played a lot against Keith [Galloway] and I know of Adam Cuthbertson. They are both high-quality players. I think it will be a great forward battle.”

Conditions in Leeds will be a far cry from the tropical heat of Cowboys’ Townsville base. Scott, who played 19 times for Queensland and has 17 Australia caps, said: “Obviously it’s a bit colder to what we’re used to, but we can’t wait for Sunday. It’s an honour to come over and take part here.”

Meanwhile, Scott has paid tribute to former Wakefield Wildcats captain Jason Demetriou, who was on Cowboys’ coaching staff last year. He said: “He is great, he was a big part of why we went so well.”
