Mulhern, 22, joined Hull KR last year after making five Super League appearances for Leeds – all off the bench – in 2014-15.

The Irish international played 21 times for Rovers in 2016 and is the 23rd player to commit to the East Yorkshire club for next year.

“It’s good to be back and I’m looking forward to kicking on next year and having a good season under [new coach] Tim Sheens,” Mulhern said.

“Everybody at the club has made me feel really welcome since I first joined and I always wanted to stay at Hull KR.

“We’ve got a good group of lads here.

“We’re going to do our best to push for promotion back to Super League and I want to be part of that.

“We came back in for training [yesterday] and there’s a positive mood in the camp. We’ve had a good first day working with Tim and the rest of the coaching staff.

“He has brought some new ideas and it felt like a fresh start, so we’ve just got to work hard and get in the best possible shape for next year.”

Rovers head of rugby Jamie Peacock – a former Leeds clubmate of Mulhern’s – said “He’s still very young for a prop, but he’ll have a big part to play in 2017 against some really physically demanding opposition.”
