Leeds' amateur clubs left facing uphill battle to progress in the Cup

LEEDS' SURVIVING community clubs were both handed a tough draw against National Conference Premier Division opponents in the second round of the Ladbrokes Challenge Cup.

Hunslet Club Parkside – coached by Castleford Tigers hooker Paul McShane – will have home advantage against West Hull and Oulton Raiders face a long trip to Cumbria to take on Wath Brow Hornets.

The draw produced an all-West Yorkshire tie with Dewsbury club Shaw Cross Sharks taking on Castleford visitors Lock Lane. Featherstone Lions will travel to Hull Dockers.

Teams from Kingstone Press League One, including Hunslet Hawks, will enter at the third round stage.

Championship sides, including Batley Bulldogs, Dewsbury Rams and Featherstone Rovers join the Challenge Cup in round four and Wakefield Trinity Wildcats, along with the other bottom-four Super League teams, in round five.

The remaining eight Super League sides – including holders Leeds Rhinos and 2014 finalists Castleford Tigers – begin their campaign in the sixth round.

The second round draw is: Kells v Underbank Rangers, Millom v Pilkington Recs, Shaw Cross Sharks v Lock Lane, Hunslet Club Parkside v West Hull, York Acorn v Distington, Hull Dockers v Featherstone Lions, Wath Brow Hornets v Oulton Raiders, Egremont Rangers v Rochdale Mayfield, Siddal v Northumbria University.

Ties to be played on February 13/14.
