Jamie Fields back with a bang as Parkside remain in chase for the title

DEFENDING CHAMPIONS Hunslet Old Boys haven’t had things all their own way in the National Conference Premier Division this year, but proved they are right in the title mix with a tense 20-18 win at leaders West Hull.

Parkside were outscored by three tries to two, but Jamie Fields’s kicking on his return from injury proved the difference.

He landed six goals, including the winning penalty in the final minute.

George Clarke and Kieran Murphy were Parkside’s try scorers.

They remain third, five points behind West Hull, but have a game in hand and meet the leaders again, at home, on Saturday.

Thornhill Trojans are third from bottom after a 32-24 loss to visitors Siddal.

Jack Gledhill, Luke Haigh, Liam Morley and Declan Tomlinson scored the Dewsbury side’s tries, all converted by George Woodcock.

Milford lost 20-10 at Division One promotion rivals York Acorn and have slipped a place to fourth in the table.

Dwain McRae and James Barker were Milford’s try scorers and Jake Payne added a conversion.

East Leeds are in danger of relegation from Division Two, sitting third from bottom after a 60-6 drubbing at Hull Dockers. They were 36-0 down when Jason Priestley crossed and Adam Gibbons added the extras.

Hunslet Warriors remain second in Division Three following a 38-20 success at Eastmoor Dragons. Josh McLelland and Nathan Clapham both bagged a brace for the Warriors, Luke Naughton, Liam Brown and Dillan Thornton also crossed and Jordan Gale (3) and Daryl Gaunt (2) added goals. Warriors are behind Woolston Rovers on points difference, but have a game in hand.
