three injuries added to Hunslet Hawks’ woes following their 28-12 loss at Whitehaven in the Kingstone Press Championship.
Hawks led 12-0 at half-time and boss Barry Eaton said they “gifted” victory to the Cumbrians with a poor start to the second half.
To make things worse, Eaton revealed: “Andy Kain has got a shoulder injury.
“It’s a bit of an on-going thing, but he got a whack on it so we’ll have to check that out.
“Charlie Martin also got a shoulder injury, to an a/c joint and Callum Casey came off under the concussion rule.
“He passed his head test and went back on, but he was pretty sore so we will have to see how that is.”
Eaton was also feeling sore after his team missed the opportunity to put distance between themselves and the bottom-four.
“In 18 minutes in the second half we gave them 24 points,” he said. “They didn’t have to work for them and two of their tries came from when we had the ball. We lost the ball in the tackle and they went 90 metres to score and a ridiculous offload by Richie Barnett was picked up and they scored off that.
“It was very disappointing, because we played really well in the first half and we built a platform for what should have been a good win.
“Some harsh lessons have got to be learned.”
