In a closely contested first-half few would have expected such a capitulation from the hosts, as the Eagles eventually moved through the gears to run in 10 tries, four of which came from the almost unplayable Menzie Yere.

The Hawks led after Jack Lee’s quick break from dummy half resulted in a try, but the Eagles took command with two scores from Yere and Sam Smeaton just before the break.

It was one-way traffic in the second period when Tony Tonks powered over after a fumble from the restart, and this was quickly followed by a Yere double to put the visitors firmly in control. Scott Turner well and truly took the game further away from Hunslet with another try, to conclude a devastating 11-minute blitz.

Liam Mackay offered some resistance for the hosts with a try just before the hour mark, but Rob Worrincy restored the Eagles authority when he intercepted to run 80 metres.

Michael Knowles added further gloss to the score with a late try and, right on the whistle, Quentin Laulu-Togagae rubbed further salt into Hunslet wounds. Kyle Briggs converted to take his points tally for the evening to 18, as the Eagles bounced back from last weekend’s defeat to London.
