Hunslet coach Bramald fancies his side's chances of a run in cup

Bramald, who succeeded Barry Eaton last month, will take charge of Hawks in a competitive game for the first time tomorrow when they play host to York City Knights in the League One knockout competition (3pm).

The final will be played in Blackpool to kick-off the Championship’s Summer Bash and the coach reckons Hawks are capable of going all the way.

“We are aiming to go out and win every single game,” said Bramald, whose side warmed up with a comeback victory at league rivals Keighley Cougars in a trial match last week.

“We know if we play how we can we are capable of beating anyone at this level.

“Some big, strong teams are playing each other in the first round, so some good teams are going to go out this weekend.

“Depending on how this weekend goes it could be positive for us going forward and I think we have a chance of getting into the meaty part of this competition.”

It has been a long off-season for Hawks and Bramald said his team are “chomping at the bit” to play.

“It’s a good chance to see what standard we are at and how we are looking for the rest of the season,” he added.

“We are going to give it every effort and it should be a really good game. There’s some players on both sides who’ve played for the other team, so it should be a bit spicy.”
