Hull captain Gareth Ellis has been charged with grade B reckless striking following a tackle on Mickael Simon in his team’s 46-28 win at Wakefield Trinity Wildcats.
He faces a ban of up to two games, reduced to one with an early guilty plea.
Ellis, a former Wakefield player, was not charged over an earlier challenge which left Anthony Tupou with a mouth injury and concussion.
The match review panel’s report on that incident - which was placed on report by referee Richard Silverwood - stated: “Player making legitimate attempt to tackle opponent.
“Player’s shoulder does not make contact with head of opponent. Accidental clash of heads in the tackle.”
Meanwhile, Castleford Tigers’ Andy Lynch has been charged with making grade A dangerous contact on James Donaldson in the 56th minute of Hull KR’s win at the Jungle on Sunday.
Lynch will not be banned if he submits an early guilty plea.
