Anfield left Castleford in the off-season, having guided them to the Challenge Cup final in 2018 and 2019, as well as top spot on the table and the title decider two years ago.

A statement on Tigers’ website anounced the five players’ departure and added: “The club would like to thank them for their contribution to the team and we wish them well in their future endeavours.”

York, who have also signed Olivia Wood and Savannah Andrade from Bradford Bulls, finished the 2019 season second from bottom in Super League.

Ex-Leeds player Adam Cuthbertson, who steered Rhinos’ women to the 2019 league and cup double, will work alongside Anfield at York as head of performance.

Callum Windley, previously Anfield’s assistant at Tigers, has also joined York’s coaching staff.

Tigers are away to Warrington Wolves in a Challenge Cup quarter-final tomorrow.
