On-fire Fryston ready to turn up heat on Cougars in Challenge Cup

FRYSTON WARRIORS are confident they can create a shock tomorrow when they take on Keighley Cougars in the Ladbrokes Challenge Cup third round.

Warriors are the community game’s Yorkshire Cup and Pennine League champions and expect to have a partisan crowd behind them at Featherstone Rovers’ Post Office Road (3pm).

Cougars, of Kingstone Press League One, will be hot favourites, but Fryston coach Danny Bolton said his troops can scent an upset.

“We are really looking forward to the game,” Bolton said.

“The club is buzzing at the moment and we are confident of getting a result.

“I watched Keighley last weekend [when they beat Doncaster 30-20 in the League One Cup] and they were playing one of the better sides in their division.

“There are a few areas where they look lethal and a few which we believe we can target. We will need to be switched on, but we will give it a really good shot.”

‘Home’ advantage could be important for Warriors, who beat Hull outfit Three Tuns in the Yorkshire Cup final at Featherstone last month.

Benson added: “Featherstone’s help with this game has been absolutely tremendous.

“They have worked tirelessly for us and welcomed us with open arms.

“We want to repay them by taking a big crowd to the Big Fellas Stadium and making it a memorable occasion for everyone concerned.”
