THERE WILL be “half a dozen” changes to Featherstone Rovers’ squad during the off-season, coach Jon Sharp says.
Rovers were fourth in the Kingstone Press Championship, but finished the First Utility Qualifiers without a win.
Sharp said: “We had 16 culled last year, this year won’t be as big, but there’ll still be a reasonable number of changes.
“It is what the team needs and the club needs and it proves we’re not sitting back patting ourselves on the back thinking we’ve been great.
“We have done all right this year, but we need to get better and more consistent.”
Sharp reckons the 46-6 defeat at London Broncos two days ago highlighted where Rovers need to improve.
“It was disappointing,” he said. “We didn’t get the performance we got the week before, which is symbolic of how we’ve played in the middle-eights.
“We’ve been up and down, we’ve turned up one week and not the next. That’s not good enough and it’s something we have got to work on for next year.
“It has been rocks and diamonds for us, we’ve come up with some great stuff one week and the next we’ve been terrible. That comes down to attitude and we will address that with how we train next year and how we recruit as well. At the minute we are not tough enough and that needs to change.”
