FEATHERSTONE Rovers have not given up hope of avoiding the wooden spoon in the First Utility Qualifiers.
Rovers are the only team without a win, but will go into Sunday’s final game at London Broncos in confident mood following a much-improved performance in the 32-24 defeat by Hull KR two days ago.
Featherstone have won two of their three meetings with London this year and coach Jon Sharp said: “We know we have got the ability to beat them.
“We also know they are playing really well and have a fully fit team, while we have got some busted blokes and we are creaking.
“We know it is a really tough ask, but we are going down there with a lot of determination. It is not a dead rubber for us, we want to build on what we produced against Hull KR.”
The performance last Sunday was a huge improvement from the previous week’s 70-16 defeat at Salford Red Devils. It was the first time they had kept a Super League team below 62 points and Sharp said: “It was fantastic, a really good performance.
“There was loads of determination and the attitude was good. We showed a lot of skill as well and I think we are getting up to speed with what is in front of us.”
Sharp said Rovers were “down to the bare bones” before the game, but came through with no major new injuries.
