FEATHERSTONE rovers coach Daryl Powell is staying positive in the wake of his side’s first defeat of the season.
Rovers were beaten 22-16 by visitors Widnes Vikings in the Northern Rail Cup, after trailing 18-0 at half-time.
Powell’s side came through with no major injury concerns and the coach said: “A lot of positives came out of it.
“We worked hard at the back end and we almost got a draw – I think if we had got something a bit earlier we would have won the game.
“It was disappointing to lose, but it was played in appalling conditions and they started the game much better.
“They scored two tries in the first 10 minutes.
“We never gave in, but there’s a few things we have to learn from.
“In conditions like that we have to be better in the way we start games and how we finish the sets.
“And we have to make sure we don’t make as many defensive errors.”
The NRC quarter-final draw will be on March 10.
