Featherstone Rovers: Sharp's men looking to right the wrongs of defeat against Toulouse

Rovers will travel to Dewsbury Rams tomorrow (3pm) bidding to get back on track following last Sunday’s home defeat by French side Toulouse Olympique.

That pushed Rovers down a place to third in the Kingstone Press Championship and Sharp knows they can’t afford to slip up again against a side who have lost all their six league games so far.

Assistant-coaches Jonathan Schofield and Karl Pryce were placed in charge of Rams following boss Glenn Morrison’s departure on Monday and Sharp admitted that will make Featherstone’s job tougher.

“There’s a preconception that when teams make changes it brings about a response from the players,” Sharp said.

“We are thoroughly expecting that, but it’s not about Dewsbury – it is about us and about us getting back to winning ways.

“We had a bad day at the office, particularly in the first half. The opening 20 minutes were just not us – it wasn’t the standard we have set.

“We were unrecognisable from what we’ve been doing this year. It was really disappointing and we want to get out and play. It has been a long week.”

Rovers will be boosted by prop Jordan Baldwinson’s return from Leeds Rhinos on dual-registration, but Sharp admitted: “We are expecting it to be tough. It is a big game for us.”
