Coach Jon Sharp confirmed the former Warrington Wolves academy player is facing two to three weeks on the sidelines after suffering ankle damage in the 30-24 defeat by Kingstone Press Championship leaders Leigh Centurions two days ago.

Full-back Danny Craven, who missed the game due to a head injury sustained against Batley Bulldogs in the Challenge Cup a week earlier, could be available for this Sunday’s trip to Oldham.

Sharp said Rovers, who are fifth in the table, one point outside the top-four with a game in hand, will go into that match in buoyant mood, despite the result against Leigh.

Featherstone trailed 22-8 at half-time, but levelled the scores in the second half and had chances to salvage at least a draw after Leigh had regained the lead.

“It was frustrating and encouraging at the same time,” Sharp said of Rovers’ late onslaught.

“We were outstanding, brilliant – really good.

“We played over and above what anybody imagined we could possibly do.

“We were massively down on troops, but the people that played were brilliant and had a really good dig.

“We played smart and executed well and the better team lost.”
