Rovers completed a third successive pre-season win when they overcame Betfred League One visitors York City Knights 22-12 two days ago.

But Rovers struggled to find their feet on a pitch made heavy by rain and snow and Duffy warned they will have to improve if they face similar conditions when their Championship campaign begins next month.

“We didn’t deal with the conditions very well,” Duffy admitted. “We had spoken about it, we knew what the weather was shaping up like.

“York showed a lot more desire than us early on, but eventually we decided to turn up and show some aggression.

“We have things to work on going into next week because the first few games are going to be played in difficult conditions.

“We showed some good glimpses defensively and York didn’t get much of a sniff. In terms of positives there weren’t too many. It wasn’t good enough from us.”

Rovers will aim to complete an unbeaten pre-season when they play host to partner club Leeds Rhinos on Friday.

“It is something I am really looking forward to,” Duffy said.

“We will get a few bodies back – players who have been rested [on Sunday] – and we will be up for the challenge.”
