Featherstone Rovers: Duane to take the strain

ON-LOAN three-quarter Duane Straugheir will make his Featherstone Rovers debut in Sunday's Co-op Championship fixture at Keighley Cougars.

The Bradford Bulls academy prospect comes into the squad, along with Jon Steel and Jodie Sheriffe, but Rovers are without ankle injury victim Tom Saxton.

Coach Daryl Powell said: "Duane has been really strong in the reserves and he has been good in training. He has had a couple of weeks to have a look at us and he will definitely play on Sunday.

"It is going to be good to have a look at him in first team action. It's a good opportunity for him to put his hand up and show us what he has got."

Saxton was hurt against Widnes last week and Powell said: "His ankle is unbelievably swollen. "He is going to have a scan and we will know more then."

Former Widnes player Lee Paterson has left Featherstone after less than a month at the club.
