FEATHERSTONE ROVERS coach John Duffy has slammed his side’s performance at Widnes Vikings as “unacceptable”.
Rovers suffered a 58-10 defeat in the Qualifiers after trailing 34-4 at half-time and Duffy said: “I was bitterly disappointed with our performance.
“We were miles off and it is unacceptable.
“I questioned players’ attitudes at half-time because I know we were not up to par. Standards needed to be better than they were.
“Widnes gave us a big lesson and we have a lot of learning to do ahead of our next game. They are in a full-time environment and playing at a high intensity week-in, week-out, so it was always going to be a tough ask to go there with some key personnel missing, but I am making no excuses for what we served up.”
Rovers have no fixture this weekend and Duffy added: “I am glad we have some time this week and next to spend with the players and regroup.
“We will be working hard, looking towards a massive game against Hull KR.
“We have to get back to being Featherstone and having a great attitude and desire behind us.”
Meanwhile, Rovers prop Darrell Griffin has been charged with grade C kicking against Widnes. He will be banned for two games if he submits an early guilty plea.
