Featherstone Rovers boss Duffy wary of potential banana skin at Doncaster

FEATHERSTONE ROVERS are determined to enjoy a Ladbrokes Challenge Cup run this year, but boss John Duffy reckons tomorrow's trip to Doncaster is a banana skin (3pm).

Doncaster are top of Betfred League One and though Rovers – second in the Championship – will be favourites, Duffy, who signed a new contract earlier this week, is expecting a tough game.

“We will have to be switched on for the full 80 minutes,” he warned.

“They are really well coached by Richard Horne.

“He obviously knows his stuff so we will have to make sure we go with a good game plan and play near our expectations for this club.”

Rovers reached the Challenge Cup quarter-finals last year and Duffy stressed they want to at least match that this season and he does not regard the Cup as a distraction from their aim of a top-four finish in the Championship.

“It is a different focus for us this week, but the players said in pre-season they wanted a good cup run,” he said.

“Doncaster are playing well, but we are in good form and we are looking forward to it, to playing in a good stadium on a good pitch and a firm, dry track.”

Duffy will not be resting players this weekend.

He insisted: “We want to keep our form going, so we’ll be as strong as we can be.”
