Featherstone boss Duffy happy to '˜win ugly' at Barrow

It was Barrow’s first home defeat in 23 months and came after the hosts had gone ahead early in the second half.

“I am just glad we got the win,” Duffy reflected. “They have got a great home record, but we found a way to win and I think a champion side always finds a way to win. That’s what we’ve got at Featherstone.”

Rovers’ victory – after Toulouse Olympique lost at Batley Bulldogs – lifted them to second in the Betfred Championship, but Duffy felt there were lessons to be learned.

“It was a really ugly game, not the best to watch,” he conceded. “We didn’t adapt very well to the way the game panned out, the ruck and some calls that went against us.

“We just need to run the ball over the line, rather than play sometimes. We overplayed all game. We spoke about ‘just run in hard, get them on the next play, run in hard, get them on the next play’.

“We didn’t do that well and it brought them back into the game. Credit to them, they had a real dig at us, especially up the middle in the second half. They rolled us a few times there so we’ll have a tough week this week in training.”
