Boss Matt Bramald reckons his side need to get something out of tomorrow’s trip to Barrow Raiders (3pm) and the following weekend’s game at York City Knights if they are to feature in the Kingstone Press League One play-offs.

Hunslet suffered a Super-8s setback when they were beaten 36-24 by Doncaster last week and Bramald said: “The season is not all lost, but it is going to be a fair bit more difficult now.

“If we had beaten Doncaster probably one more win would have got us into the top-five, but now we will probably need to go and get something from Barrow and York.”

Hunslet are sixth in the table, one point behind fifth-placed York.

The top two at the end of the Super-8s will contest the Grand Final.

The losers from that game will go into play-offs with the teams from third to fifth to decide the other promotion placeon offer.

Bramald blamed defensive lapses for last week’s loss and is confident Hunslet will be better tomorrow.

Barrow are third, five points ahead of Hunslet and Bramald said: “I am expecting a reaction.

“The players know where we went wrong.

“We are going to go up there and have a really good go.

“If we don’t make it into the top-five it won’t be through lack of effort, we are going to put everything into it.”
