FORMER SUPER League players Karl Pryce and Kieran Hyde are both in doubt for Dewsbury Rams’ rearranged trip to Workington Town in the Kingstone Press Championship tomorrow.
Pryce suffered a back injury in the 26-13 defeat at Halifax two days ago and Hyde (calf) was also hurt, though coach Glenn Morrison said: “He had to go back on, because we needed him out there.
“We only had one (fit) player on the bench, so that made it tough.”
Despite the result, Morrison was pleased with his team’s display at the Shay, where they led 12-6 at half-time.
“We were in front for most of the game,” he said.
“I thought we controlled the game well, but they were strong.
“They came out strong in the second half, but we stuck in there and even when we were only one point up I thought we could go on and win it, but we came up with too many errors. They went three points up and from then on we were just chasing the clock.
“They got a couple of late tries because of that and I thought the scoreline flattered them a bit.
“Overall, I was happy with the effort.”
Morrison admitted a mid-week game is “not ideal” for his part-time players, adding: “We are going to have to do recovery and game preparation in one session, but that’s the way it is”
