Jowitt salutes brave Steve

Have your say

FORMER Bradford Bulls prop Steve Crossley’s “mental toughness” has been praised by Dewsbury Rams coach Warren Jowitt.

Crossley was back in the action in the 32-24 win over Swinton Lions two days ago, despite suffering a shoulder injury earlier in the game.

“We needed his presence out there,” said Jowitt. “It was a brave thing to do and I think he showed he has the mental toughness to play in Super League now.”

Matty Nicholson (shoulder) and Brad Singleton (dead leg) also picked up knocks and Jowitt said that allowed Swinton back into the game after Rams led 24-0.

“George Flanagan played really well,” added the coach. “He needed to because he didn’t have a good game the week before.

“That’s what you want from your players, you want them to answer you like that.”

Rams have no game this weekend and, because of the injuries, Jowitt said: “That has done us a big favour.”
